Ed Steinhilper Watercolor Demo!

I just attended a fantastic watercolor demonstration at our local Arts Council, given by Ed Steinhilper. He has such a free way of working with water and the brush. I learned some great tree and 'weeds' techniques, and I can't wait to try to incorporate them into my own watercolors. He made a great point that even though there were artists he studied under whose style did not appeal to him, or match own aesthetic mode of creating, there was always something he learned from them and incorporated into his own methods.

I really liked Ed's style, even though it's nothing CLOSE to what I create LOL. I still want to try and adapt his techniques to make them work for me. And I think that's a good point to keep in mind when watching other people create or looking at art that isn't to your taste. Is there anything that the artist has done that you can adapt and make your own? That's how we create our own unique style, not from a creative vacuum, but from absorbing everything around us. Thanks Ed for an informative and enjoyble presentation!

You can see Ed Steinhilper's beautiful work here: http://www.fairfieldartgallery.com/gpage2.html
